Doors (whispers)

She could feel the whispering
And the shivers that slowly crept up her spine
Its icy tendrils were only so far away
Screaming for her to be imprisoned
Beneath suffocating pressure like the rest

So, she ran through the dark
Pounding feet against the stone floor
Until finally
She sees saw a door looming far away
Dimly lit by two flickering candles
Hovering above the floor
Illuminating the brown wooden door
Glowing, beckoning to come through
So, she wrenches open the door and throws herself
Into a room of just more black
But she can hear the whispering.

So, she runs
Until finally
She sees another door
Begging her to rip off it off its hingests wings
And fly through the next door
So, she does
Pausing for breath
But she still can hear the whispers.

So, she runs
Until she finds another door
She hurries to the rnext room
To find yet another door
But the whisper still follows her.

So, she runs through the doors
One after another
The whispers close behind
Slamming wood echoing in the dreary silence

Until finally there are no more doors
And there are only faint candles burning
And she stops

The whispers have subsided
Warmth fills her slowly
So, she sits down
Ignoring the voices in her head.
But then she listens closely
The whispers have never stopped.
